Beginging my Healthy Relaxed Hair Journey: Relaxer Stretching

So I've been  doing A LOT of research on Relaxed haircare DIY particularly, I am a young woman with long relaxed hair, I've had thick, long hair since I was a little girl, back than my mom did it like most of us. (mom's day post next) I don't know exactly what my hair type is right now since I am relaxed and in the process of stretching my relaxer to help build up the thickness of my hair.

Right now my hair is mid back legnth but I have been noticing that it has been thinning out the ends. Which I know is the oldest part of my hair but it also needs to be taken care of as well. I started watch all of these videos on Youtube starting with the GlamTwinz! Kelsey and Kendra I love them!! and than others I've discovered! Right now I'm putting my hair in two plats daily or a bun as a protective style for low manipulation. I also am using Africa's Best Organic

COLLEGE GRADUATION:Point Park University Bachlors of Arts Broadcast Journalism May 4,2013

YES I did IT! I graduated this Saturday May 4th 2013! I am finally done with college! I don't think I'll be going back to get my masters degree. (of course If you feel this is the route for you that go for it!) In my major even my advisor told me that I don't need a master's degree but we all know that in this economy "lol it seems people use that for everything these days" but honesly. If you have a masters you'll probably get a higher paying position than someone who dosent, however I feel that in my field you can succedd with a BA as well. It is about experience and know how to do the job well and also who you know in the industry to vouch that you are a qualified candidate for the job sometimes EVEN if your not. Jobs are competetive! well Broadcasting,PR defintly are! Life is competetive actually.  Now that I've graduated  I feel really good! But I am taking summer classes so MAYBE I don't feel THAT excited because I DO have two more final classes that I need to take to get my degree but HEY that's my life!!

FASHIONAFRICANA :VERSAILLIES '73 event

This past Sunday March 3rd, 2013 I attended a VIP reception and screening for a new documentary made by filmmaker Ms. Deborah Riley Draper. The event was organized by Ms.  Demeatria Boccella, along with Brazilian Model Luana.
The viewing was held at Pittsburgh's August Wilson Center featuring special guests: Essence Magazine Editor-At-Large, MIKKI TAYLOR and Legendary Fashion Model PAT CLEVELAND. I was actually not expecting what I saw in the film I thought it would be more about  the African American Model's experience in the fashion industry from the 1970s to now, the racial bias the "Color Complex" things like that. However the Versailles 1973 was amazing in its' own right, it was about the American models and designers Vs the French designers and models of that time. There was a huge fashion show, France's portion was 2 hours long while the Americans was a mere half hour and was celebrated by the entire audience standing ovation! This was truly an event where African American models paved the way in France for  women of color, to know that they had a certain flare they brought to the other side of the world that was incredible and made the French see a different side of modeling!
