What makes a SINGER a true Performer in the eyes of society?

Music has been my heart and soul from the time i could talk and prematturely belt of "the little Mermaid" song!for my relatives at age 6. Since than the early 90s to now 2011 the music industry has drastically changed it's criteria of "What makes a pop artist" or "R/B Diva"

-Beyonce
Now with the likes of Beyonce a TRUE american icon in the entertainment industry, Christina Augilera, Celine Dion and many other perfessional recording artists ,and even as far back as the Legendary Diana Ross( one of my performance idols), Where does "Dondria",Miley Cyrus and the recently faned Rebbeca Black also of Youtube fame fit into this musical labarnyth to the top of the charts? With the creation of myspace, facebook, and youtube anyone who has over a million views is worthy of being looked at by industry A&Rs or Top Mut you arsic Producers? hmm . This is where i feel the issue lies, just because you have a "pretty good" voice and a million view does NOT mean that you have what it takes to beccome a world-renowed performer. Although from what i've seen lately of these artists maybe this isn't what they are after. Some people are satisfied with mediocrity and their 15 mins of fame. When i first heard Christina Augilera's "Stripped" album back in 2002 i was absolutely mesmorized by her vocal ability, of coarse she is professional and does vocal acrobatics . I saw her in concert twice and was so excited when i heard that her next tour for "Bionic" would be in Pittsburgh,PA
August 3rd! The day right before my birthday!
Then she cancelled her tour. She is a true performer

-Christina Augilera

There are "singer's" in the indusrty that don't have much vocal talent at all but it's the entire package that draws in their audience. The comparisons are endless in the battle between singer and overall performer who CAN sing! ex: Britney vs Christina those reason go without saying and also it's a tough argument because they are both talented in their own right.

Maxwell and Eric Benet, Brandy and Amerie, etc the list goes on. When I go to see an artist i expect to be ENTERTAINED true an amazing set of pipes is the first thing that i listen for of coarse.Than comes the overall experience of the artist's show it can be an intimate "Mtv unplugged" vibe, sold out concert arena, or event playing a jazz club. Usher is a PERFORMER he has the entire package, he can sing, dance his butt off, he's fine!carisma, stage presence, showmanship and has been in the game since '94 !! plus since he's BEEN in the game most of his songs have been hits (which of coarse credit due to his producers, songwriters and mgmt team). The music industry continues to grow and the question still remains to be answered what makes a singer a performer?  here's a video of one of my favorite performer/entertainer/SINGER's Christina Augilera! Finally I want to say that "Hard work beats talent when talent dosen't work hard"!! WOW!
