THE VOICE: legendary Whitney biopic premieres on Lifetime
Saturday January 17
The highly anticipated Lifetime Network TV movie "Whitney" chronicling the superstar vocalist's star-making high ponts and horrific falls premiered Saturday Janurary 17,2015. Of coarse critics were leery on the final product due to the extremely negative press and overall production of their previous Aaliyah biopic :R&B Princess.
I was right there glued to my TV watching and tweeting LIVE as the action unfolded. I am a huge Whitney Houston fan but after seeing several interviews featuring the film's virgin director Houston's co-star in the hit "Waiting to Exhale" I figured it would be a higher quality film. The rising star who portrayed Houston, America's Next Top Model & actress YaYa Decosta earned an Oscar!! I swear she was the spitting image of Houston from her giggle to her mannerisms! and the flawless lip-syncing was incredible!! She brought all of the emotion out of the story which started when Bobby met Whitney which I though was interesting, considering it was supposed to be a biopic not a spotlight on their relationship! But that was an important part of her life, I guess Basset didn't want to show her in a scary, light regarding her intense drug addiction. Spiraling downward and her own trip to rehab, now that would've been interesting to see how she dealt with it. However they did talk about how Bobby Brown went to rehab, divorced him. All in all i wished it was longer like the American Dreams: The Jacksons TV movie that was like 5 hours! But I'm glad it was made and it did her justice.
MY FAVORITE WHITNEY SONGS:
1) I Have Nothing
2) I will Always Love you
3)Saving all my Love for you
4) Greatest Love of All
5) Run to you
6)When You Believe
7)I believe in you
8) Exhale (Shoop Shoop)!!
